“The Treatment” wishes to acknowledge the folks who actively promote fly tying and angling. There is no monetary reward for placing these links. We just wish to say thanks for being there as needed, and/or to provide valuable information.

Line-hauler’s are a special breed. We don’t use the rod because of the brand name but because of the feel, the finesse, the “personality” of the rod, line and bug. We don’t fish for the meat but for the serenity. Tie it, we think you’ll like it.

Outside Redding, California, in-route to my favorite waters of the Trinity River; home of the best brown trout and salmon waters you’d ever test your skills on. I’ve watched them grow for 25+ years. Still there just off I-5 with their wonderful crew & knowledge (and supplies of course). They offer-up guide services on the major and private waters of California as well. Thanks for letting us link to your site Tim. Click here or on the © pic. They know the Sacramento River and the salmon who live there, but they know the surrounding streams, rivers and lakes. They really can set you up!

Please note that <we> are not affiliated with any of these sites and cannot & will not state that there is such affiliation. They are sources available on the public www and have been gleaned by searching. They might even get angry if they knew their sites were listed here, but we are sure they would appreciate the reference. We hope they don’t mind!

Tiers remember their first fly and, after a few years on the bench we wonder just what the heck we were thinking when we took pride in that first bug or streamer. Sometimes we can’t even recall what it was supposed to be!

We encourage others to tie and while some cease quickly, others continue to refine their art. And a personal art it is.

Some observers are inspired, some are awestruck, while others think “what the heck are/were they thinking?”.

We tie because that’s what we do. Sometimes, with our own personally tied bugs we are even able to outwit that catch - and a

To be honest, sometimes I thank my creator several times during the smoking process of that monster salmon I selfishly kept.

The next time your catch and release (or smoke!), thank your own creator <he/she/it/fuzzy frog or granite rock pile> for making it possible to enjoy the art of the tie, and the satisfaction of the catch. It aids greatly in filling the soul, and causes us to take the time to look again at the environment in which we find such true enjoyment of that particular act. The act of being able to outsmart a creature with a brain sometimes no larger than a vegetable seed.

A tough thing it is, to outsmart that wily prey.

Sometimes, with a brain not much larger than a vegetable seed they beat us silly. Yet we continue to present that bug “just a little differently”, or even modify that bug just for “that particular body of water”. We’re a funny sort, attempting to get others to understand just what it is we do, while the wily fish passes its’ genetic knowledge to their fry without conscience thought.

To this end we want to pass-on a taste of that knowledge to others. And so we pass-on a few sites. Some in thanks of just continuing to make the tools available to us for many years past. Maybe the tool is a specific bug, line or leader, while another tool may be the history of the anglers that came before us. Perhaps their ‘secret’ honey-hole, or their ‘nooner’ fly, or perhaps how that lay their line at that special water.

Fly Anglers On-Line  A valuable source of information is Fly Anglers On Line. Here you can read information designed for both the novice and professional. You can find valuable information if you know where to look. Remember... give them a fish or teach ‘em how? Well, guess what you’ll find here!

Nymph fishing has been my most productive method of fly angling, while using the dry is the most fun. Watching a trout rise behind the fly then crash down on top simply amazes me. This is hardest on my heart.

The original Fly Tyer's treatmentHow about a Fly Fishing Merit Badge for the Scouts! This is a great site for any scout and/or scout leader. No logo stealing, but click here.

America has tens of thousands of waters to fly fish. Take your friends, children and grandchildren - take your guests. Promote this art and promote catch and release. It’s the only way to fly (fish). Keep your lines and loops tight, keep your profile low... and read the hatch. You’ll be glad you did.

The original Fly Tyer's treatmentWomen have a strange knack when it comes to fly casting, fishing and fly tying. Some fantastic information is available here at the Women’s Fly Fishing Clubs.

The original Fly Tyer's treatmentI would be remiss if I didn’t include my own area - Yosemite, California. Again, no image stealing, but check-out the flow-rates here.... and get other pertinent information here. If you visit you’ll find world-class sized rainbow and browns - 4-6 pounders are not uncommon (the Ferguson Mountain fell into it and Hwy 140 is still closed between El Portal and Briceburg, but both sides of the slide are still accessible and the town of Mariposa is a wonderful place to visit. And when the river reopens, it’s the only year-round access to Yosemite. The slide was devastating to the town and its’ locals, and they could use your visit. Hopefully the temporary bridge will be completed by August ‘06. Perhaps the slide will create our own version of Montana’s Quake Lake (URL #1)

The original Fly Tyer's treatmentSince I mention Montana’s Quake Lake (URL #2), it would not be good not to mention some other waters. But I won’t speak of The Firehole or the Madison... those are recognized world wide. My once secret location is Bear Creek and it is gorgeous... if you don’t get eaten by the bears (honestly!). Bear Creek yields big fish when the Madison becomes too warm. It is located between Ennis and the base of the west face of the Madison Range. Go there, just don’t tell anyone where it is!

This site is new, but the art and love of this sport are almost ancient to me. Fly tying and fly fishing have been in my soul for decades. To tie that bug and land “that” fish - not the other fish but “that” fish overwhelms me each and every time. And (almost) each and every time I am lucky enough to outthink my prey, I thank my creator for the venue, the patience, and the catch. Then I put that wonderful creature back into its’ environment to help replenish the next persons soul.
